It doesn't matter if it's cheap or free, MG:S is still a time investment, and you could spend that time playing so many better games. Go in expecting anything on par with V or even the weaker MGS games, and you’ll be sorely disappointed because Surviveance is Metal Gear in name and name alone. Know what you’re getting into and you can get some bang for your buck. The fun ones are Trackers, Mortars, Detonators and if you play co-op, XOF Gunners. And while combat gets better, basic enemies are just blade fodder, not genuinely fun monsters to fight.

So too long didn’t tldr version: For 10 bucks, if you really like V, it’s worth getting just to see some of the cool contrasts and exploring a more condensed version of V’s worlds in a new light with a lot more content in the open world itself.īut the missions are a massive downgrade from V’s highly replayable missions. Why the initial skills you unlock weren’t the default while the subclasses one big skill tree, fuck if I know. But it actually gets really good by the end and post game when subclasses get unlocked. And the act of exploration is pretty entertaining.Ĭombat sucks every ounce of ass at first. There are some pretty cool enemy types, there’s a bit more atsmophere if you like wastelands. He’s a shit villain but an entertaining enough boss fight. But it’s got some good ideas and, if nothing else, for ten bucks, you get 3 boss fights which are more akin to MPW bosses than anything else. It’s not a game you’ll play for very long after you beat it. If someone is talking or asking about a game they haven't finished, then in that thread you should think about spoiler tags when replying to them.
